Ten reasons why you can't study even though you know that you really should.Okay so you know that you should be studying, and you're trying really hard to. But (and there's always a but) somehow you're just unable to concentrate, or just find the drive to push you to study more than just half an hour a day. Here's my ten reasons why you're not able to study effectively.
numberONE.
The bed's just more appealing, and taking a long and never-ending nap sounds better than the word Chemistry. The fix: study far, far away from that hypnotic bed constantly calling out to you, "you're sleepy.. you're very sleepy.."
numberTWO.
That television and all of its pixelised wonder is mesmerising. You can't help but just get pulled from your study table like a sleepwalker, and watch everything that airs on television - even if it were Days of Our Lives. The fix: I have no idea. I have problems with this one as well.
numberTHREE.
If you're as attention-enjoying as me, you'd porbably agree with me when I say that you're probably unable to find the drive to sit in one place for too long - alone. I can't study alone because I need attention. Not that I go all out to seek attention, but it's just that i need someone to be there to pressure me into studying. The fix: get into groups, get a study buddy - anything. Just get someone close to you to always be there when you study. Really, it does help to make the first step.
numberFOUR.
So, you say that you need stress to actually rally enough motivation to study? Well, if the people you're mixing with aren't giving you the pressure on that subconscious level, then I'd strongly recommend you sit beside Geraldine Lim for a day. It's like, my goodness, the amount of work she churns out daily is just bewildering. If you wanted constant beamings of pressure on the subconscious level, honey Geraldine Lim would do the trick.
numberFIVE.
Perhaps you're happy with yourself, and think it's not a problem for you to do well in the 'O' Levels. Well, I'd recommend you get to know some people from the Elite Schools like Hwa Chong, Raffles, ACS blah blah blah. You know the list. Get to know them and really fear for that fact that they are WORKING BLOODY HARD even if they don't need to (those darn Integrated Programmes) XD.
numberSIX.
I know it's preposterous to say this, but there are people out there who FORGET to study. The fix: get a nice little stack of posi-it notes and wallpaper your room with it. Worked for me. (that was a joke by the way)
numberSEVEN.
The atmosphere isn't right, most probably. It's hot, it's humid, it's PHREAKING bright, and it's way too noisy in your house. On the contrary, it's too dark, it's too quiet and the darkness outside is just so depressing. In that case, you should definitely revisit your study times. If you're now studying in the day but find it hard to, do what my senior did and bat-ify yourself. Sleep in the day and study at night. (warning: this takes some getting used to.) On the other hand, if you're like me, already studying in the night, and it's not working out, do the reverse and be like all the other normal homo sapiens in the world and sleep normally. Duh, much?
numberEIGHT.
Maybe you just don't get how serious it is if you screwed up your 'O' Levels. Well, let me spell it out clearly for you. The issue here isn't about failing. The issue here is passing, but getting a total of C6 for EVERY SINGLE PHREAKING subject. Sure, you passed. Congratulations, but with an L1R5 of 36, you're not going anywhere. JCs would without a doubt not even consider your application, Polys would really just turn you away as if you didn't even have an O Level Cert, and the ITEs would treat you as if you were retarded. You can't even retake it, since you passed. Okay that, my friend is just sad.
numberNINE.
Still not feeling motivated after reading this whole load of crud? Then I'd strongly suggest you talking to a teacher you can trust. It'll be awkward, but a meaningful and serious conversation is sometimes all it takes to get your life back on track. Seriously, you need to work hard.
numberTEN.
i think the last reason why you could possibly ever not have the motivation to study, is because your friend is telling you to update your blog(FANGSTER, it's really okay. hahahah), and you're up for any excuse to leave The Mole Concept behind.
Point is, you should just take control of your life. Your life is out of control because you let it go out of control. Your life is meaningless and void of motivation because you never bothered to cling on to it when you had them in the first place. It's still not too late. Go get your life back on track. Hope this helps.
