Sometimes I wonder what the world would be like if Man didn't have lips. Sometimes I wonder how the world would be if we weren't able to shut our mouths from spouting the truth. Sometimes I wonder about the global situation, if we weren't able to stop ourselves from spilling out everything that ever crossed our minds about the people around us.
And I know, that if we weren't able to, the world would be torn by war. The world would be so hostile, and everyone would live in hatred of each other. The world simply cannot tolerate the truth, because the truth hurts. We know that. We cannot know the truth because it tears us apart so much, that it transcends to the literal level and rips the world to shreds.
This is why, we have lips. This is why we have brains. This is why everything we say goes through our minds, such that everything that manages to make it out of our mouth is either politically correct, or severely sugar-coated. We can neither speak of nor live with truth, because we were never taught truth. Everything has a splattering of propaganda, of politics, of guilt - of lies.
So we shut our lips because we know the repercussions of uttering the truth. We know that it is better to lose. It is better to lose face for the sake of keeping what you hold dear to your heart; to swallow your pride. We've learnt to deal with half-truths so well, because we scarcely ever encounter the truth.
In fact, Truth as we define it is in itself, the world's greatest irony.
