You talk about how the community needs to take the opportunity to prove to the other communities that your community is not all about terrorism - that you're all for the greater good as well. You talk about how the community needs to clear the misconceptions that the other communities have about your community. I can't believe this. You still dare call yourself "One People, One Nation, One Singapore"? Rubbish.

If we were "One People", we wouldn't be segregating the society into racial and religeous communities. If we were "One Nation", then we would all make sure that everyone has fair voice in the political arena. Most of all, if we were truly "One Singapore", we would most certainly be much happier, and much more patriotic to our country.

But no. Our country doesn't do that. Our country likes to make use of religeon to hold the other by the balls. Our country likes to classify everyone into "heterosexual" and "homosexual". Our society likes to classify our students into "elites" and "mediocre". Our country loves to make sure that everyone knows how bad or how good the other is, and worst of all, our country is always biased towards particular communities.

Can't we all just be One Nation - where all the Men and Women are merely Citizens? Won't we all be better off when we don't have to surreptitiously glance over our shoulder at that guy from that community? It's getting too complicated, and frankly people aren't getting married and having kids because of differences in "social standings". If you want to do something about this, I'd say we stop classifying people into groups.

But no. We can't do this. Society's very nature is to classify and segregate people into little communities. When this is done, society hands power and reign over to the majorities and force the little minorities into a corner with an athame, in the hopes of intimidating you into joining the Dark side.

Also, I guess the reason why such a thing is not possible is because, the world would get a little too boring without social-eschelonment. I mean, how the hell are you supposed to feel good about yourself when you can't laugh or make fun of someone else's predicament, right? Besides, no one gets hurt, because those who can't join the elites can always start fantasizing about a better life in some far-off land.. on Neptune.
