The moment you start to linger, you start obsessing, and you slowly and unknowingly become emotionally bound. Soon, you become subconsciously bound, and that's when leaving things behind and moving on starts to hurt. And being bound means that the hurt will go on for a long time, until you rip that part of you that is welded to the object of your obsession, and you are left with a crevice that requires much time, energy and effort to level out that loss you feel.
The more you linger, the more pain you feel.
But how can we ever genuinely commit to anything or anyone, if we cannot commit ourselves to that risk? That's your gamble. That's your bet.
