Everyone's leaving for university and the army and the likes. People are growing up. People are moving on- some better than others, and some not at all. We're waking away from our past to forge a future for ourselves, and for many of us, our children in time to come. Some walk blindly, some walk strong. Some are so desperate to run that they seem almost destined to fall. Ultimately, we're continuing to walk. It's time to look back and say to ourselves that we've done what we've done, and we're walking the paths laid out to us, one step at a time. It's time to acknowledge the fact that some friendships will be lost, others strengthened, and even more will be formed in the years to come. It's the time to bite down hard and walk with courage in the fog ahead because you don't know if you're going to walk through it alone, or if you're going to become alone along the walk. It's time to realise that everything in your life thus far has led to this, and that there's so much more to come.

I don't know if you've noticed, but whenever the topic of university or our future comes up, there's a look in my eyes that says that I'm happy for you, and that I wish you all the best in whatever you may go on to do. It's a look that is longing to take your hand to hold on to you for as long as forever can last, yet is a look of stoic acceptance of the reality that we can't hold the ones we love back for our own selfish insecurities. It's a look that wants so badly to articulate all the things that I've yet to say and have always yearned to say, but at the same time is too overwhelmed and caught up with anxiety and loss, that hints that perhaps, it's better to keep quiet and say absolutely nothing, than to start and realise that what was said would just be.. insufficient. In my eyes. When I look at you and I smile. Despite all that. Despite all the uncertainty and struggles within.

In my eyes is a look of unending hope.
